Corel Video Studio Pro X2 Proxy files are lower resolution working copies of video files. They are reduced in resolution or compression bit rate for only one reason — to speed up editing of high definition files such as HDV, AVCHD, etc The main purpose of this feature is to have a more efficient editing experience by making smaller proxy files out of large videos.Smart Proxy can also be used in other video file formats and is not limited to HDV files only When you edit and preview your project in Instant Play mode, proxy files will be used as substitutes for their large video source counterparts. Whereas when you preview your project in high-quality playback mode or when you render a video file, the original video source files will be used. In the case of HDV files, Smart Proxy is automatically activated during capture and use of HDV files in your project. Please watch in HD

what do you mean ? by useing smart proxy you lose quality on the resolting video ? how do i set the proxy resolution ? are you good with this ?
@YoungBucksFather Only the proxy file is of low quality so you can edit it without any problems, it doesn’t effect your original video
@2PacsFather The original HD files will not be altered, the proxy file is just used for editing
@2PacsFather It will set the resolution and do it automatically when you add your video to the timeline, just make sure smart proxy is enabled

ye you are , so what are the basic graphics that a corel x3 will work on ? i have a celeron D 1.5 GB ram
They recomend Windows XP with latest service packs installed, Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHz, AMD Dual-Core 2.0 GHz or higher recommended. 1 GB RAM (2 GB or higher recommended) and 3 GB of free hard drive space

You could download a trial copy and see if it works with your spec
It should create a proxy file automatically, make sure it’s enabled in the settings

how didi you make it full screen i need help.
Try going to the tools menu and selecting device control, you could also try changing the capture plugin, if they are not present then you probably can’t use this capture device with Corel Video Studio

Does it edit ok with your spec?
Try spliting your video into smaller clips, it might help
wow, glad you done this tutorial… ! i learn alot with it ! big thanks…now i know why my CPU usage go crazy when i start a big edit job with HD… so it mean we should wait till the proxy compression job is finish before we start the project…to really benefit from that feature… THANKS
When you put the clips on the time line it should start the Smart Proxy automatically. Check by selecting the Smart Proxy Queue manager it should show your files being processed, make sure Smart Proxy is enabled
